Overview
Rostov-on-Don is a city in Russia, in Rostov. About 1.1 million people live in the city proper, making it the 10th largest city of Russia in our atlas.
It lies at 47.22° N, 39.71° E, about 54 m (177 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the Europe/Moscow time zone.

Climate
Rostov-on-Don has a continental (hot summer) climate (Köppen Dfa). The warmest month is usually Jul, with average highs near 32°C (90°F); the coolest nights come in Jan at about -7°C (20°F). Around 519 mm (20 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, spread fairly evenly through the year.
