Overview
Almaty is a city in Kazakhstan. About 2.0 million people live in the city proper, making it the 1st largest city of Kazakhstan in our atlas.
It lies at 43.25° N, 76.91° E, about 783 m (2,569 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the Asia/Almaty time zone.

Climate
Almaty has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa). The warmest month is usually Jul, with average highs near 34°C (93°F); the coolest nights come in Jan at about -6°C (22°F). Around 466 mm (18 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, most of it in Apr.
