Overview

Yangon is a city in Myanmar. About 4.5 million people live in the city proper, making it the 1st largest city of Myanmar in our atlas.

It lies at 16.81° N, 96.16° E, about 30 m (98 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the Asia/Yangon time zone. It sits inside the tropics.

Climate

Yangon has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen Aw). The warmest month is usually Apr, with average highs near 40°C (103°F); the coolest nights come in Jan at about 18°C (65°F). Around 1,235 mm (49 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, most of it in Jul.
