Overview
Quito is the capital of Ecuador, in Pichincha. About 2.8 million people live in the city proper, making it the 1st largest city of Ecuador in our atlas.
It lies at 0.23° S, 78.52° W, about 2,854 m (9,364 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the America/Guayaquil time zone. It sits inside the tropics.

Climate
Quito has a temperate oceanic climate (Köppen Cfb). The warmest month is usually Aug, with average highs near 24°C (75°F); the coolest nights come in Jul at about 11°C (52°F). Around 1,178 mm (46 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, most of it in Apr.
