Overview
New Delhi is the capital of India, in Delhi. About 317,797 people live in the city proper, making it the 53rd largest city of India in our atlas.
It lies at 28.62° N, 77.21° E, about 211 m (692 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the Asia/Kolkata time zone.

Climate
New Delhi has a hot semi-arid climate (Köppen BSh). The warmest month is usually May, with average highs near 43°C (109°F); the coolest nights come in Jan at about 6°C (42°F). Around 750 mm (30 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, most of it in Jul.
