Overview
Kunming is a city in China, in Yunnan. About 6.0 million people live in the city proper, making it the 26th largest city of China in our atlas.
It lies at 25.04° N, 102.72° E, about 1,895 m (6,217 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the Asia/Shanghai time zone.

Climate
Kunming has a subtropical highland climate (Köppen Cwb). The warmest month is usually Jun, with average highs near 26°C (79°F); the coolest nights come in Jan at about 1°C (34°F). Around 828 mm (33 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, most of it in Jul.
