Overview

Baghdad is the capital of Iraq. About 7.2 million people live in the city proper, making it the 1st largest city of Iraq in our atlas.

It lies at 33.34° N, 44.40° E, about 41 m (135 ft) above sea level, and keeps time on the Asia/Baghdad time zone.

Climate

Baghdad has a hot desert climate (Köppen BWh). The warmest month is usually Jul, with average highs near 46°C (114°F); the coolest nights come in Jan at about 3°C (37°F). Around 201 mm (8 in) of rain and snow falls in a typical year, most of it in Jan.
